This introductory course provides students with basic information to understand how to set up, run, and monitor Master Planning in Microsoft Dynamics 365 for Operations to support company planning strategies. This course requires a basic understanding of supply chain concepts.
This course explains the differences between a master plan, which looks at the current needs to meet company goals, and a Forecast Plan, which looks at the expected future volumes and the prediction of future sales. It describes the features of each of these types of plan. In addition, this course covers Static and Dynamic plans. Static plans are usually run weekly and use current data, while Dynamic plans will look at all recent transactions. For this reason, Dynamic plans can be run daily.
This course also introduces the features and settings of running a master plan. This section looks at the various concepts in setting up a master plan, such as Time fences, Coverage, Firming, Action messages, and Safety margins. All of these settings contribute to the results of the master plan, and a company can have multiple plans set up for different scenarios.
The course then moves on to Parameters, which set up default information for use when running Master planning. Then it explains Scheduling parameters, which control things such as Scheduling direction (scheduling forward or backward from a given date) and optimizing scheduling based on the capacity of the resources.
Finally, the course covers how to run Master planning and selecting the options available when doing so.
Format: Blended learning for on-site, private delivery. A combination of e-learning with trainer input from a Microsoft Certified Trainer.
